What can I expect from a class?
Classes run an hour and a half. We begin with a dynamic warm up and conditioning, followed by pole (or aerial skills) and dance. We always end class by putting it all together as we cheer each other on! So leave your troubles at the door and prepare to have a great time while you reshape your entire body.
What should I wear to class?
1. Wear comfy clothes like you are attending a yoga or Pilates class. For Aerial Silks and Aerial Yoga class, your underarms must be covered.
2. Don't wear any lotions on your hands or body.
3. Don't wear any jewelry on your hands, wrists or ankles. Jewelry can scratch the poles or tear the delicate fabric of the silks.
4. We work out in bare feet, although you may eventually like to try industry standard heels. Yes they are 6" and higher! No street shoes allowed in the studios.
How long are your sessions and how long is each class?
After ten years in business, we strongly believe that 8 week sessions are right length of time for you to correctly and safely advance on to the next level. In each level, 20 or more pole (or aerial) tricks are taught along with a routine and several transitional moves. You won't only learn to do pole tricks. You will learn to DANCE!
Within each 90 minute class you will also go through a full body warm-up and workout as we condition your body and your self confidence for polework. You also need the full 90 minutes of "me time" to unwind and let go of your stress!
However, we know that your time is limited and once a week is never enough! We also offer"drop in classes" in any of our classes for just $35 as long as there is available spots and the class is not above your current ability.
How big are your classes?
We limit ALL our classes to between 5 and 12 students. You will not be trying to keep up with an instructor you've never met and who doesn't know your name. You will be watched like a hawk to ensure your own safety and proper technique.
Who are your instructors?
Our instructors are certified Pole and Aerial fitness professionals through industry accredited programs. They are also certified in safety, CPR and basic first aid as well as going through an 8-24 week intensive teacher training through Tease. Ongoing training and support on trick instruction, spotting technique and class safety are done weekly to keep everyone up to date on the latest practice and technique. Safety is our number one priority.
Do you offer teen and kids classes?
Girls, ages 9-17 are welcome in our Aerial Silks, Aerial Hoop (Lyra) and Aerial Yoga classes. We even have an exclusive Aerial Silks class just for them! Because of the nature of pole dancing and burlesque, these classes are reserved for women 18 and up.
Do you offer classes for Men?
At Tease, our mission is to cater to and empower women. We are very body positive and offer a culture that is badly needed in today's world of media pressure. Men are not generally allowed in class, but if there is enough interest, we are happy to create a men's class. Men are also welcome to take private lessons with us.
Do you offer day care?
No, The Tease Dance and Fitness studios are a haven for our students away from the distractions of life. We love our children, but it's hard to let go and feel sexy and strong if your child is crying in the next room!
Can I take more than one class per week?
Yes! Most of our students choose to do this. The additional 8 week classes are just $180 for the series. What a deal! This series we're offering a special (buy 4 get one free!) So if you schedule 4 classes, (your first at full price, your second, third and fourth at $180, you can pick a fifth class for free!)
What is the atmosphere like at Tease?
Our studios are beautiful and cater to a woman's need to be just that...a woman. We work out by candlelight to provide ambiance, comfort, and privacy.
There is no negativity...ever. We expect everyone sign a contract agreeing to never say anything negative to or about yourself or your class sisters. Instead, make an effort to support them as you want them to support you. No sharing other women's experiences outside of class. No cross talking either. We keep the classes small so we can be a cohesive group. This is not the place to come, workout and go home. We build relationships as well as healthy, strong bodies.
The studio is more than a place to exercise. It's a clubhouse. It's a safe-haven, it's a place to relax and rejuvenate yourself. It's a meeting place. It's a place to let go. And while you are enjoying all that, you get a wonderful workout experience that leaves you feeling confident and sexy throughout your week!
I've never done this before and I'm kind of shy. Will I fit into a level one class?
Of course you will! All the women in a level one class are brand new to this type of movement. You are all in the same super-sexy ready to rock "boat"! Nothing is expected of you and our instructors are trained to create a non-judgemental, relaxed, supportive atmosphere in class. It may be hard to step out of that box...but I promise you it will be the most rewarding step you have ever taken. Do it for yourself!
I'm not all that thin and I have no upper body strength. Do I have to be in great shape to take classes?
Nope! Tease is appropriate for women of all ages, shapes and sizes! We believe ll shapes are good shapes, and it's about the journey of fitness and self ignition. All moves can be progressed or modified to be more or less challenging.We insist on loving our curves from day one, and keep on loving them as your body and your spirit begin their inevitable transformation.
Can I make up a missed class?
Yes! We know that life can get busy and you may need to miss one of your scheduled classes. You can make up a missed class at any time as long as it's in the same level you are currently attending. Just let us know your plans in advance so we don't overbook the class. Please don't plan to do more than two makeups per session. Unused classes may not be transferred to an upcoming session.
How are classes organized?
Classes are held in 8 week sessions. Each session includes 8 classes (one per week on your chosen time and day). Classes run 90 minutes.
For our signature pole series, there are 8 levels that a student can advance through.
Our specialty classes are not progressive and anyone can participate. With "Pole Poise" we recommend that you at least finish Level 1 Pole.
Should I bring my own yoga mat?
Yes! For sanitary reasons, we urge you to bring your own mat, or purchase one of ours (extra thick for $19.99). We will also rent mats at the front desk for a nominal fee.
