Frequently Asked Questions

WHO IS WELCOME AT TEASE?

Everyone! Tease welcomes and values people of all backgrounds. We support and encourage the beauty of our diversity as well as the ability to see ourselves in each other's eyes. Regardless of race, sexual orientation, or gender identity, you will find love and support in our community.  All of our aerial arts classes are gender inclusive.  Most of our pole and adult classes are for those who identify as female, however, we have specific pole class offerings that are gender inclusive.  These classes will be noted in the description.

I’M A PLUS SIZED PERSON AND I HAVE NO UPPER BODY STRENGTH. DO I HAVE TO BE IN GREAT SHAPE TO TAKE CLASSES?

Nope! Tease is appropriate for women of all ages, shapes and sizes! We believe all shapes are good shapes, and it's about the journey of fitness and self love and a whole lot of fun! Our nurturing instructors will offer alternatives , options and encouragement throughout each class, holding your hand along the way. Each move can be progressed or modified to be more or less challenging.  We encourage you to love your body from day one, and keep on loving it as your body and your spirit begin their inevitable transformation.

I'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE AND I'M KIND OF SHY. WILL I FIT INTO A LEVEL ONE OR BEGINNER CLASS?

Of course you will! All the people in a level one class are brand new to this type of movement. You are all in the same "ready to rock” boat! Nothing is expected of you, and our instructors create a nurturing, non-judgmental, relaxed, and supportive atmosphere in class. It may be hard to step out of that box...but we promise you it will be the most rewarding step you have ever taken. Do it for yourself!

WHAT IS THE ATMOSPHERE LIKE AT TEASE?

Welcome to the most safe, loving, encouraging place on earth!  There is no judgement and no negativity...ever. We expect everyone to sign a contract agreeing to never say anything negative about yourself or your classmates. Instead, make an effort to support them as you want them to support you.  No sharing other people's experiences outside of class.  No cross talking either.  We keep the classes small so we can be a cohesive group.  This is not the place to come, workout, and go home.  We build relationships as well as healthy, strong bodies. A cocktail or coffee with your class friends after class is a regular routine for many of us!

The studio is more than a place to exercise.  The minute you walk into our glamorous studios you will be welcomed whole heartedly by our staff who will introduce you to your instructor and classmates. The first few minutes of class will be a short telling of the Tease story and then we want to hear yours! There is always laughter, encouragement and hugs. Tease is a clubhouse, and a safe-haven.  This is a place to relax, have fun and ignite yourself! And while you are enjoying all that, you get a wonderful workout experience that leaves you feeling confident and sexy throughout your week!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A CLASS?

By the end of your first class you will feel like a force of nature, a kid on the playground and an acrobat all at once! Our classes run 85 minutes.  We begin with a dynamic and and thoughtful warm up to encourage you to get to know…and love your body. Then it’s time for the fun to begin!  We work on specific techniques that may include pole or aerial tricks, new choreography, sexy floor work, or even asanas in our Aerial Yoga classes. We always end class by putting it all together as we cheer each other on! So leave your troubles at the door and prepare to have a great time!

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?

1. Wear comfy clothes like you are attending a yoga or Pilates class. For Aerial Silks and Aerial Yoga class, your underarms must be covered.
2. Don't wear any lotions on your hands or body.
3. Don't wear any jewelry on your hands, wrists or ankles.  Jewelry can scratch the poles or tear the delicate fabric of the silks.
4. We work out in bare feet, although you may eventually like to try industry standard heels for pole.  Yes they are 6" and higher!  No street shoes allowed in the studios.

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS AND HOW LONG IS EACH CLASS?

Our classes combine a full body workout, strength, flexibility and fluidity training and of course new technical skills each class.  It takes more than just an hour to give our students these things in a personalized manner.   After 14 years in business, we strongly believe that 8 week sessions with 85 minute classes are right length of time for you to correctly and safely advance on to the next level.  In each level, 20 or more pole (or aerial) tricks are taught along with a routine and several transitional moves.  You won't only learn to do pole tricks.  You will learn to DANCE!

Within each 85 minute class you will also go through a full body warm-up and workout as we condition your body and your self confidence.  You also need the full 85 minutes of "me time" to unwind and let go of your stress!

HOW BIG ARE CLASSES?

We limit ALL our classes to between 6 and 10 students.  You will not be trying to keep up with an instructor you've never met and who doesn't know your name.  We call our teachers “Tease Mama’s”! As you progress through your levels, you will stay with the same teacher, same classmates and same time as your previous session.

ARE POLE AND AERIAL CLASSES SAFE? WHO ARE YOUR INSTRUCTORS? WHAT ARE THEIR CREDENTIALS?

Pole and aerial classes can be dangerous if you are taught by a teacher who isn’t properly trained. Our instructors are certified Pole and Aerial fitness professionals through industry accredited programs. They are certified in class safety, CPR and first aid as well as going through an 16-24 week intensive teacher training through Tease.  Ongoing training and support on trick instruction, spotting technique and class safety are done weekly to keep everyone up to date on the latest practice and technique.  Safety is our number one priority!

DO YOU OFFER TEEN AND KIDS CLASSES?

Teens, ages 14 and older are welcome in our Aerial Silks, Aerial Sling, Aerial Hoop (Lyra) and Aerial Yoga classes.  We offer a mixed aerial class for kids ages 9-14. Because of the nature of pole dancing, belly dance and burlesque, these classes are reserved for studets 18 and up.

CAN I TAKE MORE THAN ONE CLASS PER WEEK?

Yes! Many of our students choose to do this. The additional 8 week classes are just $180 for the series. What a deal!

SHOULD I BRING MY OWN YOGA MAT?

Yes! For sanitary reasons, we urge you to bring your own mat.  If you don't have one, we rent disinfected mats at the front desk for $1.

HOW ARE CLASSES ORGANIZED?

Classes are held in 8 week sessions. Each session includes 8 classes (one per week on your chosen time and day).  Classes run 85 minutes.

For our signature pole series and aerial classes, there are 8 levels that a student can advance through.

Our specialty classes are offered as beginner, intermediate and advanced, and our burlesque and aerial yoga classes are for all levels.  Some seasonal classes
have additional prerequisites, so please check the description before enrolling.

CAN I MAKE UP A MISSED CLASS?

Yes! We know that life can get busy and you may need to miss one of your scheduled classes. You can make up a missed class at any time as long as it's in the not in a level above your current ability. You may even do your makeup in a different genre of class to try something new!

All makeups are available for you to schedule online. If you cancel out of your class 4 hours or more before it begins, you can use that credit to reschedule. However cancelling after the 4 hour window or being a “no show” will result in the credit being lost.

ARE KIDS ALLOWED TO BE IN THE LOBBY WHILE I AM TAKING MY CLASS?

No, we are not equipped to watch your children in the studio.  Kids are only allowed in the studio if they are taking a class.
